Robyn & Kerry Brannigan

Robyn, Hawke's Bay born and bred, is relatively new to the hospitality game after a lifetime career in early childhood teaching. Formally trained in Palmerston North Teachers College and then working throughout Kindergartens in the Hastings and Havelock area, she has a deep understanding and joy of people, especially children, in her view of life
Kerry has had a number of different jobs over the years and settled after travelling and working overseas in the mid 80’s into the Wool and Apple industries; building a substantial shearing contracting business operating throughout Hawke's Bay, and owning a number of orchards on the Heretaunga Plains. A good few of years growing organically has created a perspective on what is good and balanced for the environment.
Robyn has always had a passion for families, especially mothers and children and places they can go to relax and be fulfilled, as well as a place that sells furniture, homeware and gifts. A place where mothers can shop and where food is enjoyed in a relaxed, warm environment.

When the old Clifton Café came up for sale, it was a dream come true. Hygge at Clifton Bay focuses on delicious food, and offers a shop with gifts and items that enhance the home and the self. An enjoyment of art flows into the locally produced art displayed by varying artists throughout the café.
And after a life of dealing with many people from all walks of life, Kerry and Robyn bring a relaxed atmosphere to Hygge to the cafe. As for Hygge itself? It is simply a philosophy that was discovered and resonated many years ago. There is no Scandinavian connection, it is the message that mattered and it is what Robyn and Kerry have created. Whether Summer or Winter it is the welcoming, warmth and easy comfort of home they wish to share.
