Easthope Family Winegrowers embody a hands-on individualistic approach of making terroir-talking wines. Rod and Emma Easthope craft small batches of extraordinarily expressive wines.
Rod and Emma are originally Hawke’s Bay locals from vineyard families and they both have some serious national and international winemaking credentials under their belts. In 2012 they decided to embark on the next phase of their wine life with their three young sons. This winemaking pair wanted to put into practice their overarching philosophies that had eluded them as winery employees in the past.
The farm site consists of 20 hectares overlooking the Ngaruroro River in the Mangatahi district of Hawke’s Bay. The vineyard comprises of Chardonnay and Syrah Additionally, they source a selected parcel of Chardonnay from the Skeetfield Vineyard in Ohiti, and Chenin Blanc and Gamay from the Two Terraces Vineyard in Maraekakaho.
The Easthope’s prize freedom over approval. This mantra means their wines are unburdened by expectation or convention, and instead, focus purely on the sensory thread between the vineyard and the bottle.
