Chris Scott
A passion for wine led Chris Scott to Hawke’s Bay. He originally started his time at Church Road Winery in 1995 working summer months and weekends in the vineyards and at the cellar door before taking a full-time role in the cellar in 1998, whist finishing a degree in wine science.
In 2005, Chris was appointed Senior Winemaker at Church Road. His philosophy of executing traditional techniques to add depth of flavour and layers of texture to exceptional quality Hawke’s Bay fruit, stands him apart. Over his tenure, Chris has refined his artistry to create award-winning wines that are known for their excellence.
Chris Scott is one of New Zealand’s most celebrated winemakers having been named New Zealand Winemaker of the Year by Winestate Magazine in 2013, 2016, 2020, 2021 & most recently in 2022. He has also been titled International Wine Show Winemaker of the Year 2017, Royal Easter Show Wine Award Winemaker of the Year 2020 as well as been included in Drinks Business Top 100 Winemakers in 2023 and 2024.
